This OER, Having a Voice: Visual Art as a Tool for Participation, is designed as a teaching resource to support students in exploring the role of visual art as a means of participation and civic engagement. It provides a structured framework for lessons that examine how art can function both as a supportive and disruptive force, its significance in political campaigning, its role in contemporary artistic discourses, and its economic implications. A key aspect of the resource is guiding learners in reflecting on their civic roles and using artistic expression to make societal concerns visible.
This OER is part of the cross-cutting issue Democratic Education and Active Citizenship and was recorded in the TESTEd CPD course on 29 January 2025.
