Description
Catarina Vieira da Silva defines the concept of global citizenship, which underscores the interconnectedness of humanity and the shared responsibilities beyond national borders. She explores the significance of empathy and kindness, rooted in Confucianism, as essential virtues for building supportive and inclusive societies. The Declaration of Human Rights is highlighted as a critical framework for upholding individual dignity and equality amidst rising nationalism and inequality.
In her lecture, she also emphasizes how local activism and community involvement can create substantial global impact, driving systemic change from the grassroots level. Visual storytelling plays a vital role in this process, as powerful images can transcend language barriers, evoke emotional responses and encourage support for humanitarian causes.
